Celebrating SPC Achievements in SDG Action and Awareness

The Citizenship and Social Development Department and the Student Sustainability Society have achieved great success in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the second term of the academic year.

In April, Fan Siu Lung (4F) and Wong Kin On Christopher (4F) were declared champions of the Inter-institution Edutainer Competition: UN Sustainable Development Goals with their video on Goal 13: Climate Action. The competition was funded by the Strategic Development Grant of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

In March and June, students from 4F participated in a territory-wide STEAM program run by the Faculty of Engineering, HKU. Alumnus Victor Ng (Class of 2017), a master’s degree student with the faculty, helped our students explore problem-based learning and research skills.

In June, the College was awarded a certificate in recognition of our contribution to the 2022-2023 PEACE School Programme at the UNESCO Hong Kong Association’s Award Ceremony cum UN SDGs Roundtable.

Finally, our commitment to promoting campus diversity and inclusivity was recognized at the Equal Opportunities Commission's Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Ceremony last week. We were invited to share with the attendees how SPC achieved in promoting SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities during SDG Action and Awareness Week held at the College in March. RTHK also conducted a follow-up interview with our teacher representatives for us to further discuss our efforts in creating a racially friendly campus.

In the year ahead, we will continue to commit ourselves to creating a sustainable and inclusive learning environment for our students.
