SPC Discovery Art Tour to Spain

We are thrilled to share highlights from the Discovery Art Tour to Spain, organized in collaboration with the Hong Kong Architecture Centre and guided by Dr. Benjamin Yiu, Ar. H.C. Chan, and alumnus Jason Lam from 19 to 28 July 2025. This tour offered students a unique opportunity to learn from architects, gaining insights into the interplay of design, culture, and history in shaping the built environment.

Architect-Guided Tours & Workshops
Students participated in architect-guided workshops at the iconic Barcelona Pavilion, where they explored concepts of proportion, light, and material. This hands-on experience allowed them to translate classroom theory into practical architectural models.

Gaudí’s Vision
Students uncovered the deeper thinking behind Gaudí’s masterpieces — Casa Vicens, Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà. They learned about Gaudí’s innovative ideas regarding organic form and symbolism, encouraging them to view buildings as living art.

City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia
Students engaged in hands-on workshops that deepened their understanding of architectural principles, applying design and spatial planning to create original projects.

World-Class Museums
Furthermore, the tour included visits to Museo Picasso, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and Museo del Prado, where students appreciated iconic artworks, including Picasso’s Guernica and Velázquez's Las Meninas.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Hong Kong Architecture Centre, our students gained a richer understanding of the concepts and cultural narratives behind Spain's landmarks, enhancing their appreciation for how space, form, and art influence society, and inspiring them as the next generation of creative thinkers.
