𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: 𝟮𝟭 𝗔𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗟 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯

In celebration of the 170th Anniversary of the founding of our school, we are delighted to extend our warmest invitation to you for our 170th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service, which will take place 𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟭 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝟲.𝟯𝟬𝗽𝗺.

The theme for the service, "𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆?" 𝑯𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒅. “𝑫𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝑭𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆?" (𝑳𝒖𝒌𝒆 2:49), is particularly fitting for this momentous occasion.

When Vincent Stanton founded the College in 1851 his primary aim was to provide a place of Christian learning for boys of Chinese heritage. The scripture reading highlights the boy Jesus questioning the temple's teachers while also learning from them – a parallel that resonates with the interactive learning experiences of our students at the College every day.
