Third Staff Development Day 2020-2021

On 26 November 2020, all the teaching staff attended another professional development programme entitled, ‘Enhancing Professional Capacity Through an Unusual Lesson Observation Practice’.

The programme was conducted in the school hall by Dr. Morton Chan and Ms Alice Lee from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They both work on the Quality School Improvement Project with Dr. Chan being the project director.

In the first half of the session, Dr. Chan highlighted the importance of student-centred lesson observation and introduced the teachers to various strategies for effective peer class observations. In the second half of the session, Ms Chan focussed on different types of feedback teachers can give students to promote and facilitate self-directed learning.

The staff development day was a great success. The two sessions have significantly informed our teachers’ understanding of the latest pedagogical developments in peer class observation and equipped them with useful skills and strategies for their classroom practice in the future.
